PROJECT ENGINEER

Summary:

  • The Project Engineer will be responsible for managing takeoffs, preparation of proposals, obtaining quotes from suppliers, developing relationships with customers and vendors as well as dealing with job site subcontractors and QA/QC.

  • Interaction with Project Owner/Architect/Engineers
  • Tracking of work performed
  • Schedule updates
  • Cost input
  • Submittal assistance
  • Materials management
  • Subcontract management
  • Project supervision assistance
  • Change order Identification and assistance
  • Request for Information (RFI) development

Other Skills/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management. 
  • Experience with steel erection projects a plus
  • Ability to read blueprints/plans
  • Flexibility to adapt to new challenges
  • Minimum of one internship with a heavy civil or steel erection contractor or equivalent work experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office concentrations in Excel
  • Must be willing to travel or relocate as necessary for projects

Work Environment:

  • Works both indoors and outdoors.
  • Environment can be dirty and noisy.
  • Wears appropriate protective clothing and equipment including gloves, ear protection and respirators when necessary.

Physical Demands:

  • Lifting up to 50 LBS.
  • Stands frequently and walks about the work areas
  • Occasionally stretches up and across when completing daily tasks
  • Squatting, crouching or kneeling may be required occasionally.
  • Twisting the body or neck may be required occasionally.
  • Bending is occasionally required to facilitate the lifting of items used daily
  • Contact with skin irritants or water may occur during certain processes
  • Repetitive hand and arm movements are required when operating machinery.
  • The employee must be able to perform the physical demands of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in heavy highway construction
